VETERAN PROGRAMMING AT HOLYOKE MALL
Bringing Awareness and Services to the Veterans in Our Community
HOLYOKE, MA- Holyoke Mall is proud to support and partner with several veterans’ organizations throughout the year. Through these events, the shopping center aims to connect these wonderful organizations and services to the veterans in our local community. As Memorial Day approaches, Holyoke Mall welcomes two veterans’ events to the center.
Veteran Services Information Table: The Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) will be in the shopping center on Saturday, May 18th, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the Upper Level near Target to share information about veterans’ services offered through the organization. The VVA’s mission is to promote and support the full range of issues important to Vietnam veterans, to create a new identity for this generation of veterans, and to change public perception of Vietnam veterans.
Poppy Drive: On Saturday, May 25th, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., American Legion Post 2666 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3104 will host a poppy drive to honor and remember American veterans. Every year, millions of red paper poppies are handmade by veterans during their therapeutic rehabilitation and symbolize the sacrifice our veterans have made for our country. Donations collected during the event will benefit disabled and hospitalized veterans, and active-duty service members and their families.
